This garden transformation consisted of nestling in three distinct garden rooms into an otherwise under utilized sloping yard. The top two terraces in the backyard were turned into a spa terrace (using an existing spa and moved into its new home at the upper level) a dinning terrace with stone bench wall and a large lower terrace for veggies. The views of Mt. Tamalpais are truly epic from this yard. The side yard was done in a second phase as a ‘retreat’ for the owners dogs as well as a happy place for the other dogs that stay there as a result of the owners business. That side yard is also utilized for storage complete with barn style shed with sliding doors and a dog wash station.
The front yard was also lightly terraced with stone walls and enhanced with crushed rock paths for low maintenance walkways. The plantings in the front are most coast natives and are drip irrigated. The drip irrigation was recently supplemented with 2 slimline rainwater catchment tanks.
