The owners of this classic Sleepy Hollow home in San Anselmo desired a year round playground for their two children and dogs. The property is set against a hillside and featured a small pool badly in need of resurfacing.
The Land Collaborative renovated the entire backyard. We designed a large deck and stout redwood trellis close to the house as an extension of the living room. The pool was refinished to its original shape. A fenced off spa terrace, utilizing the existing spa, provides an informal retreat. A stone bench wall defines the pool space from the upper hillside, and an informal seating area provides views of the surrounding hills. Raised vegetable beds allow for year-round edible plantings.
