The owners of this classic downtown Sonoma home had recently renovated the house, both inside and out. They desired a yard that would be a perfect place to entertain friends and play with their grandchildren. Because the house was on a relatively busy street, they wanted the yard to feel more private and peaceful. The existing back yard was sloped and consisted of a rose garden and a small deck.
The Land Collaborative created space for a small pool with a jet water feature to dampen the noise from street traffic. We also designed a large Batu wood terraced deck that creates additional living space, in spite of the sloped yard. Layered plantings provide beauty, shade and privacy. To lower water usage, the lawn was reduced and drought tolerant plants selected. Other elements include: concrete pool deck paving, front and side yard plantings, landscape lighting and drainage.
The Land Collaborative provides ongoing fine gardening care and maintenance consultation for this property as well.
