Brett McPherson is a licensed Landscape Architect, Landscape Contractor, and the President of The Land Collaborative. Early in life, he developed an affinity for the outdoors, landscapes, hands on work, building and “learning by doing.” Brett grew up in Menlo Park, California and after high school, enrolled at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He attended their renowned Architecture School, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture in 1996.
Brett has been involved in the landscape industry for over 20 years. Upon returning to the San Francisco Bay Area and settling in Marin County, he spent 15 years refining his skills in landscape design and project management for two well-established firms – one in San Rafael and the second in Sonoma.
He founded The Land Collaborative in 2010 with the intention of providing exceptional landscape architectural design, construction and fine gardening services. Brett is known for his hands on approach. He ensures that the vision for his client’s home and landscape is achieved through collaboration with the client, TLC design team, builders and subcontractors. He has received multiple awards for design, customer service and historic preservation projects. Brett is a member of ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) and CLCA (California Landscape Contractors Association).
Brett lives in San Rafael with his family, where he continues to grow in his profession through ongoing education. The latest addition to Brett’s skill set is leading the way in water conservation, management and reuse. He is a member of ARCSA (American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association).
